86 - Ivan Popovic (Wide Receiver)

Ivan has been an outstanding member of the Pirates for a number of years, and in 2006 he continued to have the type of dominant season that has set him apart in years gone by.

He once again set a Club Record, this time for the Most Touchdown Passes Caught in a Season (14), and he almost topped the 100 points scored in a season for the second consecutive year.

Consider that the Club did not attempt many Field Goals, and that Ivan missed one game, and his 97 points (from 1 Rushing TD, 14 Receiving TDs, 5 PATs, and 1 Two Point Conversion) is quite impressive.

Late in the season Ivan also become the Clubs All-Time Reception Leader. During his 5 year career he has now caught 178 passes for 2635 yards - and he has never fumbled the football once!

Ivan is a more than worthy winner of the Pirates 2006 Most Valuable Player AND the Most Valuable Player on Offense awards.

Most Valuable Player - Defense

43 - Sim Tooala (Linebacker)

Sim was indeed the Rock in the middle of the Pirate Defense throughout 2006.

Statistically he led the team in Tackles and also figured well in terms of Batted Passes, Fumble Recoveries, and QB Sacks, but his grasp of the defense and quiet leadership ability was something that marked him as the mainstay of the Defensive unit throughout the 2006 campaign.

Its no surprise that Sim was voted as the Pirates 2006 Most Valuable Player on Defense.
